I mentioned in yesterday’s post that militant Buddhism has started to spread from Myanmar (formerly Burma) to Thailand. Those two countries have historically been important sources of great Buddhist wisdom, so it’s especially painful they are also giving birth to the same sort of religious rigidity and hate that we see in other religions elsewhere in the world.
